Cristine Reyes delighted viewers after sharing the heartwarming story behind her relationship with fiancé Gio Tingson during her guest appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on GMA Network.

During the interview, veteran host Boy Abunda asked Cristine how fate eventually brought her and Gio together after many years.
“Ang tanong, paano kayo nagkasalubong ng landas?” Boy asked.

Cristine then revealed that they actually met as children during a school fair held at Ateneo de Manila University.

“We’ve met in an Ateneo Grade School fair, in a marriage booth,” the actress recalled.
Boy immediately reacted with surprise and asked whether they were still very young at the time.
“Mga bata pa kayo?” he asked.
“Yes,” Cristine answered.
The actress explained that because she studied at St. Bridget’s School, an all-girls school, they were often invited to activities hosted by Ateneo, including fairs, theater plays, and social events.
“Kasi I study in an all-girls school so lahat ng mga all-girls school, we get invited to Ateneo to participate sa mga theater play, prom, school fair,” Cristine shared.
She added that she was only in sixth grade while Gio was already in seventh grade during that memorable encounter.
“I was a 6th grader, Gio was 7th grade and then, I got pulled sa marriage booth,” she recounted.
However, Cristine clarified that Gio was not actually the “groom” during the mock wedding activity.

“But hindi siya ’yung partner, hindi siya ’yung groom,” she said.
Boy then asked what role Gio had in the marriage booth.
“Ano si Gio?” he asked.
Cristine laughed before revealing the amusing answer.
“Siya ’yung pari sa marriage booth,” she said.
Cristine also shared details about how they reconnected as adults and how their friendship gradually evolved into romance.
“Yeah, pero with friends pa rin,” she explained when asked about reconnecting with Gio.
According to the actress, they initially spent time together casually before eventually becoming closer.
“Siguro nag-start kami na together lang, magkasama na kaming dalawa lang, mga few months after the election na,” she added.
Boy pointed out that the two only began seriously dating in 2025 before Gio eventually made their relationship official.
“Last year, 2025. You seriously started to date? Ngayon, tinanong ka na niya,” Boy remarked.
Meanwhile, according to reports from GMA News, Gio Tingson currently serves as the head of Grab’s Public Affairs and Government Relations division. Prior to joining Grab, he also held several positions in government and politics, including serving as chairperson of the National Youth Commission from 2014 to 2016. He likewise worked as Chief Political Officer for former senator Bam Aquino from 2016 to 2018 before later handling the Akbayan Citizens’ Action Party between 2018 and 2022.
