Taguig prosecutors, nag-file na ng kaso laban kay Vhong Navarro

- Taguig City prosecutors have filed a case against Vhong Navarro over the alleged rape of Deniece Cornejo

- The DOJ has already junked Cornejo’s rape complaint against Navarro for her allegedly inconsistent statements in her affidavits

- However, the Court of Appeals granted Cornejo’s petition regarding the dismissal of her rape complaint

- The Court of Appeals stated that it is better for Navarro to defend himself at trial

Taguig City prosecutors filed a rape case against “It’s Showtime” host Vhong Navarro over the alleged rape of Deniece Cornejo back in 2014.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has already junked Cornejo’s rape complaint against Navarro for her allegedly inconsistent statements in her affidavits.

However, ABS-CBN reported that the Court of Appeals granted Cornejo’s petition regarding the dismissal of her rape complaint, stating that it is better for Navarro to defend himself at trial.

The controversy became big news back in 2014, when Cornejo accused Navarro of intoxicating her and raping her in her condominium unit in Taguig City, as reported by Rappler.

Navarro was also allegedly beaten up by Cornejo’s male friends during the same night the alleged rape took place. The Taguig court convicted Cornejo, Cedric Lee, and Jed Fernandez for grave coercion in 2018 for what happened to Navarro in 2014, as reported by Inquirer.

Vhong Navarro is a Filipino comedian, actor, dancer, singer, judge, and TV host of ABS-CBN Entertainment Groups. He is part of the dance group Street boys in the Philippines. He is currently hosting the noontime variety show, It's Showtime.

Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee were found guilty by the court for grave coercion, in a case filed by Vhong Navarro. The actor became emotional because of the decision of the court on the accused. This was in relation to the alleged mauling incident and threats on Vhong by the group of Cedric and Deniece at the condominium of Deniece in Taguig.

The camp of Cedric Lee and Deniece Cornejo questioned the decision of the judge. They want the judge to be removed from the judiciary who handed a guilty verdict on them. The case was grave coercion filed by Vhong Navarro.
