Controversial ‘TNT’ Grand Finalist quits; her reason elicits various reactions

Mariko Ledesma, a grand finalist in the third season of “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” has decided to withdraw from the final showdown, which is scheduled to happen next week.

KAMI learned that the said finalist became controversial after her opponent during the wild card round received a really low score from the judges.

She was able to receive 50 percent score from the “hurados” led by Louie Ocampo, while her fellow contestant only got 16.5 percent.

A lot of people were claiming that Mariko was not deserving of the slot, and that the judges “obviously favored” her over Marianne Osabel, who had higher public votes.

Through a lengthy Facebook post, the Grand Finalist from Luzon revealed that she is suffering from depression due to the heavy backlash that she received online.

She admitted that she got really affected because there were social media users who sent her hurtful words through personal and direct messages.

The amateur singer also called on people to stop bashing her already because she just joined a competition where it is normal for a contestant to experience triumph or defeat.

“Opo, depression po… After po ng laban ko kay Mariane, samu’t-saring pambabatikos po ang inabot ko at masyadong personal po ang pangba-bash na inabot ko…” she quipped.

“Sana po itigil nyo na po ang pang na bash kc tao po kami nasasaktan at hindi nyo po alam kung anong epekto nito... Naway maging malawak po sana ang isip nating lahat na sa isang kompetisyon, may mananalo at may matatalo…” she added.
