“Laos! Sinong nagbigay ng trabaho dito?”
“Patawa ka Tuesday. Bayaran!”

According to Vargas, such remarks are commonly found in the comment sections of her political posts.

“Iyan po ang madalas na sinusulat sa comment section ng aking political posts,” she said.

She then pointed out what she considers an irony in the behavior of some of her critics. Vargas observed that some people who post harsh or profane comments use profile images or banners showing themselves inside churches, displaying Bible verses, or embracing their families.

Vargas also said she immediately blocks troll accounts, including those she identifies as chatbots or AI accounts. However, she said her reaction is different when the person behind the criticism is someone she knows personally.

She noted that some of those who attack her are people from the entertainment industry whom she previously knew as decent individuals.

“Yung ibang troll, chatbots, AI accounts blocked agad.

Her central concern was whether political disagreement still allows room for respectful conversation.

Vargas said.

Vargas also pushed back against the idea that being a comedian somehow prevents her from participating in conversations about national affairs.

She emphasized that comedy is a legitimate profession and that entertainers are workers who contribute to society through their craft.

“Ang pagiging komedyante ay disenteng trabaho—pinapatawa natin ang tao at nagtatrabaho tayo nang tapat,” she said.

At the same time, Vargas made a distinction between her profession and her identity as a citizen.

“Pero bago ako naging komedyante o artista, mamamayang PILIPINO MUNA AKO.”

She argued that citizenship comes with both rights and responsibilities, regardless of a person’s occupation.

For her, political disagreement should be addressed through arguments rather than attacks on a person’s character, career, or livelihood.

Vargas also addressed accusations surrounding her financial situation and livelihood. She emphasized that she has worked for what she has and does not believe she owes strangers an explanation for the things she has earned.

“Saka isa pa ho- HINDI KO HININGI ANG LAHAT NG MERON AKO. PINAG TRABAHUHAN KO ITONG MAAYOS AT MARANGAL,” she declared.

She added that she normally would not feel obligated to explain her finances or personal circumstances to people online, but felt compelled to respond because of the accusations being made against her.

Vargas identified herself not only as an artist but also as a mother and breadwinner.

“Ako ay artistang Pilipino, nanay at breadwinner ng pamilya,” she said.

She maintained that the money she has earned came from her own work and that she considers her livelihood clean and honorable.

She reiterated that working as an artist or comedian does not diminish a person’s rights as a citizen.

Toward the end of her message, Vargas made it clear that criticism would not discourage her from speaking about causes she believes in.

She once again returned to the issue of personal attacks, arguing that resorting to insults can signal the absence of a substantive response.

“Kapag pambabastos at panlalait na sa propesyon ang sagot, ibig sabihin ubos na ang argumento,” she said.

Vargas concluded with a direct statement about the principles she says guide her political expression.

“Pro-Filipino at Pro-Good Governance ako—walang bayad ang malasakit sa bayan.”

While Vargas acknowledged people’s right to express their views, she called for a distinction between political criticism and attacks that demean a person’s humanity or profession.
