Bernadette Sembrano shared in her most recent Instagram post that her father, Nicanor, or Papa Nick as she would often call him, has passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2019.
The ABS-CBN news anchor shared that her father was in critical condition since Friday night. In her Instagram post, she wrote: "Papa was in critical condition since Friday night , and we were told by the doctors to be ready anytime."
She even shared that the doctors told her that her Papa Nick kept on hanging on because he might have been waiting for someone. "'Baka may hinihintay', said the doctor because his vitals signs were not good but he was still fighting," she wrote.
Bernadette even mentioned that she arrived at 9:47 am at the hospital while her dad flatlined at 9:45 am.
Thinking she was late, the nurses announced that Papa Nick's heart was still beating. "Then another nurse entered papa’s room with an ECG Machine to reconfirm the initial results... and it showed that Papa’s heart was still beating !!! 30... So , natawa pa ako ng konti while crying . I could Not believe it!" she said.

She rose to fame when she became the host of GMA Network's wishing program, "Wish Ko Lang." She then decided to tranfer to ABS-CBN where she became part of their morning program, "Umagang Kay Ganda."
