Senator Bam Aquino IV believes that his cousin, former President Noynoy Aquino, was responsible for the controversies linked to Dengvaxia. KAMI learned that the senator also shared that the issues about Dengvaxia and measles outbreak have been “politicized.”

“Yes, he is responsible for Dengvaxia because he made the decision to bring it in,” the senator said during his interview with news anchor Karen Davila in ABS-CBN News Channel’s Headstart.

“Now, whether Dengvaxia did lead to those deaths or not is really the question na palagay ko napulitika na talaga," he added.

The younger Aquino insisted that there have been “fake news” going around about Dengvaxia causing deaths to Filipinos even though it has not been proven yet.

He also said that the blame-game about the Dengvaxia mess and measles outbreak should stop and the government should focus on the children.

“I think this point, ang pinakamahalaga, stop the blame-game, stop the politicking, mag-focus tayo sa mga bata,” Aquino said.

KAMI reported earlier that Public Attorney’s Office chief Persida Acosta was being blamed for the measles outbreak that caused at least 100 deaths in the Philippines. The Department of Health said that the outbreak can attribute to the low vaccine coverage due to the Dengvaxia scare allegedly started by Acosta.

Davila asked Aquino if he also believes that Acosta must be blamed for the deaths of the children caused by measles.

“She contributed to it, lahat nung nag-ke-claim na may namatay dahil sa Dengvaxia. Again, DOH and a lot of the professors and the doctors who have come out have said that’s not proven,” Aquino stated.
