Now, most people worry about The Big One or the anticipated strong earthquake that will hit the Philippines. This earthquake will reportedly incur severe damages.

According to studies, Palawan is virtually “earthquake proof” as it is the most stable island in the Philippines. Palawan is standing on continental rocks extending 30 kilometers below.

Moreover, Palawan has no active volcanoes, no active fault lines, and no deep trenches surrounding the area.

However, Palawan is not entirely earthquake free. It has experienced earthquakes in the past. The province can still feel the tremors from surrounding provinces. Remember, the earthquake’s center last week was in Batangas but it was felt in Metro Manila.
