A Grade 8 student was injured after he was allegedly stabbed by a Grade 7 schoolmate outside their school in Bacolod City, based on a report by Unang Balita.

According to the report, the incident happened during a commotion outside the school involving groups associated with both the victim and the suspect. The Grade 8 student suffered injuries to his hand and side and was immediately identified as the victim in the stabbing.

"Nagtamo ng mga sugat sa kamay at tagiliran ang lalaking Grade 8 student," the report said, adding that police believe the violence broke out during the disturbance outside the school.

Investigators are still determining the exact type of weapon used in the attack. Initial information gathered by the police indicated that the Grade 7 student allegedly picked up the object from the ground in the middle of the commotion before the stabbing occurred.

"Hindi pa tukoy ng pulisya kung anong klaseng patalim ang ipinangsaksak ng Grade 7 student na napulot daw niya sa gitna ng gulo," the report stated.

Police officers were able to arrest the suspect shortly after the incident. The Grade 7 student is now under the custody of the Women and Children Protection Desk while authorities continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the case.

"Agad na huli ang nanaksak na estudyante na nasa kustodiya na ng Women and Children Protection Desk ng pulisya," the report added.

As of reporting, the school attended by both students has not released an official statement regarding the incident. Authorities are expected to continue gathering evidence and statements to establish the events that led to the stabbing.
