Nonie Buencamino had an emotional interview on the ABS-CBN program “Tonight With Boy Abunda.”

KAMI learned that Nonie talked about her late daughter, Julia Buencamino, who took her own life in 2015 at the age of 15.

According to Nonie, he told the Philippine Daily Inquirer that he is not afraid of death anymore because of his daughter’s death.

“It’s closer to I’m not afraid to die. It has something to do with my daughter passing away which is so unexpected. It made me realize that pwedeng mangyari anytime…

“Yung pag-asikaso ko sa kanya sa pagkamatay… nakita ko siyang patay dun sa harap ko. And then it makes me realize it happens to everybody and it’s bound to happen and it happened so early with her and it can happen to me tomorrow,” he explained, as quoted by PUSH.

He also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities closely so that they would know if they had mental and emotional illnesses like Julia.

“Marami siyang itinago sa amin. Marami siyang front. I would like to think she’s a good actress. And she was able to hide it. Pero ang dami niyang itinago sa diaries niya, sa art work niya, sa kanyang poetry. Dun lang namin nakilala kung ano yung pinagdadaanan niya. So she was going through a deep form of depression and she was hurting herself from the time she was 12 until she was 15…

“Yung mga bagay na hindi magandang nangyayari sa kanya. Parang akala namin normal lang. Nakipag-away sa classmate niya… yun pala malalim pala. Meron pala siyang form of illness and that makes it worse. Kasi yung perception nag-iiba dahil sa merong chemical imbalance.”

“Look more deeply into the activities of your children and what they’re doing and what they’re going through,” the actor revealed.
