Christine Dacera passed away after celebrating New Year's eve with her co-workers at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati. Christine was found in a bathtub and was declared dead on arrival upon being taken to Makati Medical Center.
Police initially reported it as a rape-slay case due to bruises they allegedly found on the victim. However, autopsy showed that Christine died due to aortic aneurysm. Christine's family disputed the autopsy report and insisted that Christine had been raped and the men with her the night she died should be held accountable.
Just recently, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) filed criminal charges against Christine's companions at the Makati hotel. Christine's family seemed satisfied with the results of the investigation and expressed their appreciation as reported by ABS-CBN News.
"We welcome this. This will be a big help to our case to obtain justice for Christine. Sa ngayon, we respect what the NBI has done and the PNP itself also."
Charges made by the NBI included obstruction of justice charges against Mark Rosales, Rommel Galido, John Dela Serna, Gregorio De Guzman, Jezreel Rapinan, Alain Chen, Reymay Englis, and Darwin Macalla who were with Christine during the New Year's Eve celebration as well as their legal counsel, Nepali Maroto.
The NBI also gained evidence to recommend charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide against Dela Serna, Rapinan, Chen, and Louie De Lima.
Netizens feel that justice has been served and are content with the outcome of the investigation.
"Very good science will prove everything no matter how much cover up you make. At the end of the day, the truth will come out."
"Tama dapat silang makasuhan kahit sino pa ang kapit nila sa PNP."
"Sa wakas lumabas na ang resulta ng NB. Mananagot na ang dapat managot. Deserve makulong ang tunay na may salarin."
