The professional basketball player was born on June 26th, 1992, in Saint-Quentin, Aisne, in France. He is the son of Connie Gobert and Rudy Bourgarel, his mother and father, respectively. His father played for the French national team in the 1980s.

During the 2013-14 season, Rudy joined the 2013 NBA draft. While there, he was selected as the Denver Nuggets 27th overall pick.
