Mayor Vico Sotto has trended on Twitter as he has gotten a lot of praise from celebs and netizens due to the proactive manner by which he dealt with the pandemic.

The hashtag #protectvico is now gaining the top spot on Twitter, after the Pasig City Mayor was bombarded by some netizens.

One of the interviews, which drove a lot of attention to the mayor was when he talked about the tricycles. He was asked about a tricycle that was given a ticket near the city hall.

At this juncture, the mayor looked up to the heavens before saying his piece.

He pleaded with the national government to allow the tricycles to ply the road, not for the tricycle drivers, but for the sake of public health and safety. Mayor Vico then mentioned that in their risk assessment, if they will not allow tricycles, there would be many more who would die.

He mentioned those who need dialysis, those who had undergone surgery and need post-surgery checkup, and who need to go to the hospital.

The mayor then mentioned what if the person lives in Manggahan but his doctor is at PCGH, along with his medical records.

Here's the full text of Mayor Vico's appeal:

Nandun yung doktor niya, nandun yung medical records nya. Pano po siya pupunta dito? "
