There have been issues circulating on social media about the health condition of former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile.
KAMI learned that the 96-year-old politician is very much alive amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat in the Philippines.
Through a Facebook post, Enrile confirmed that he does not have COVID-19.
“Some people are asking if I am dead, or if I have COVID 19. Well, I am sorry to disappoint the rumormongers," he wrote on Facebook.
“I am still alive, and I do not have COVID 19. Thank God!!” he added.
“Enjoy your silliness, rumormongers. You might get what you are wishing for me. I will pray for your soul and health,” Enrile continued.
In a report by KAMI before, Enrile sought a seat in the Senate during the May 2019 elections. However, he was not able to make it to the “Magic 12.”
Juan Ponce Enrile Sr. is a prominent figure during the 1986 People Power. He served as the Senate President from November 2008 until June 2013.
The coronavirus disease continues to spread in the Philippines. The Department of Health (DOH) reported 187 confirmed coronavirus cases in the country.
