Currently, he plays for the NLEX Road Warriors of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). The athlete is the son of veteran basketball player Ferdinand "Bong" Ravena, who is the current head coach of PBA TeamTNT Katropa.

The handsome athlete was born in Iloilo City, Philippines on October 27, 1993. He is the oldest of the three children of Bong Ravena and Mozzy Crisologo-Ravena. He has a younger brother named Thirdy who also plays university basketball and a younger sister named Dani who plays volleyball.

His aptitude for sports and physical activities can be attributed directly to his father who used to play basketball for the Pasig-Rizal Pirates from 1998-1999. His mother, on the other hand, played volleyball for the UST Golden Tigresses.

In an interview with media website, the athlete had the following to say about being inspired by his father:

“Growing up, I watched my dad play in the big league and I always say to myself that one day, I will be there. One day, I will be better than my dad. I think that’s my driving force to become the best that I can be”

Kiefer jumpstarted his basketball ventures by enrolling in sports clinics, particularly MILO’s Basketball Efficiency and Scientific Training (BEST) center.

In high school, Ravena enjoyed a successful and competitive basketball career at the Ateneo de Manila High School in Loyola Heights, Quezon City. After establishing his skills in high school and cementing his name as one of Ateneo's most promising players, he became a highly sought-after player among schools in Manila.

The athlete pursued his college education at the Ateneo de Manila University, where he took up a bachelors degree in Communication Technology Management. During his stay with the school, Ravena played with the Ateneo Blue Eagles where he obtained several accolades. For several seasons, he bagged awards given by the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). The scandal that tarnished the image of the athlete involved the leaked screenshots of a highly explicit and sexually suggestive Viber conversation between him and an unknown girl. The images soon circulated on several social media platforms, prompting fans to call the athlete a cheater. Coming from Singapore where he made his debut with Alab Pilipinas, the issue was addressed by the athlete as he faced a group of reporters asking about the scandal. He stated:

"Nagso-sorry ako lalo na kay Alyssa. I have no excuse for what happened. I'm very, very sorry sa nangyari. Sa sobrang bait mong tao, hindi ka dapat nalalagay sa ganitong sitwasyon."

(I want to apologize to everyone, especially to Alyssa. I have no excuse for what happened. I am very very sorry about what happened. You are such a kind person, you don't deserved to be dragged through this mess.)

Needless to say, the scandal was much to the dismay of Kiefer Ravena girlfriend of two years. Being the supportive girlfriend that she is, Alyssa admitted that she accepted Kiefer despite the mistake that he made, remarking that everyone makes mistakes at some point in their lives.

The athlete also made it a point to apologize to his friends and family, specifically to his younger siblings, for whom he felt that he failed to be a good role model.

In 2018, the athlete was unfortunately suspended for 18 months by FIBA after testing positive with substances banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). The substances, namely, Higenamine, 1,3-Dimethylbutylamine, and 4-Methylhexan-2-amine were detected on Kiefer's blood in a drug test conducted on February 25, 2018 – following Gilas Pilipinas's game against Japan at the Mall of Asia Arena.

In Kiefer Ravena latest news, the athlete bagged five consecutive gold medals in the recently held SEA Games. This is after emerging victorious in a game against Thailand, with a score of 115-82 on December 10, 2019.
