The roof of a food court in a mall in Trujillo, Peru, collapsed, leaving at least 70 people injured and 6 dead so far.
According to a report shared by GMA 7, citing Sol TV Perú, the incident happened on Saturday near a children's play area.
Authorities confirmed that around 9 children aged 10 to 12 were among the injured. So far, 6 people have died, at least 70 have been hurt, and 10 remain in critical condition.
Search and rescue operations have been difficult due to the large area affected by the collapse.

"The roof is down, everything is debris. there are a lot of children in the place where the inflatable toys are," a witness said using translation. "All the roof is down, literally, lying and full of debris. All the aluminum is over them, there are people inside and children who are apparently unconscious."
"With such a large roof collapse, spanning almost 800 to 1,000 square meters, the firefighters' rescue efforts are quite arduous and demanding," said Mario Reina, Mayor of Trujillo.
From the initial investigation, rain and humidity were the major factors why the roof collapsed.
The mall's closure was also being implemented now following the incident because of the "imminent risk" that its structure has.

According to the police, the body was in fetal position, clothes were intact, but wounds were found on her body.
