Ali’s remains were discovered earlier this week inside an apartment in DHA Phase-VI, Karachi, during a court-sanctioned eviction due to unpaid rent. Police said her body was decomposed and unrecognizable.

Gizri police initially estimated she had died two weeks prior, but a post-mortem later revealed the death likely occurred eight to ten months ago. No physical injuries were noted.

Forensic samples have been sent to the University of Karachi’s ICCBS for analysis. DNA from her brother was collected for matching, as confirmed by police surgeon Dr. Summaiya Syed.

Amid uncertainty surrounding her burial, the Sindh culture department had initially offered assistance, citing reports that the family refused custody of the body.

Governor Kamran Tessori later volunteered to handle all funeral arrangements if needed, even suggesting the proceedings could take place at the Governor House.

The South police chief said they are awaiting histopathology and toxicology results to confirm the cause of death. If foul play is discovered, legal action will follow.

Authorities also noted failed attempts to contact a woman claiming to be a friend of Ali’s, whose phone remains unreachable. No one has yet stepped forward to provide information related to the circumstances of her death.
