Kenneth Egano’s opponent in tragic boxing match gets heartbroken over tragedy

Filipino boxer Kenneth Egano, 22, died after his 8-round boxing match with Jason Facularin.

Egano defeated Facularin via unanimous decision but the former collapsed before the announcement of the result. Egano was given oxygen and was put on a stretcher before being rushed to a hospital, where he eventually died due to brain hemorrhage. The match took place on May 6 at the Blow by Blow boxing event promoted by Manny Pacquiao.

On his Facebook account, Facularin expressed his shock and heartbreak over what happened to his opponent. Facularin said that he and Egano were just doing their best in their boxing match and they did not expect a tragedy to happen. He also expressed his apologies for the outcome and sent his condolences to the people left behind by Egano.

“Kenneth Egano my friend… I didn't expect this would happen my friend, we did all the best we can but why does this have to happen? Sorry for what happened. My condolences my friend. I hope you are now journeying to a good place,” Facularin posted.

In other boxing news, Manny Pacquiao got defeated in a civil lawsuit filed in the US by Paradigm Sports Management. The retired boxer was ordered by the jury to pay a total of $5.1 million — around ₱282 million — to Paradigm. A civil lawsuit was filed by Paradigm against Manny for allegedly breaching their contract. Manny was accused of concealing his preexisting agreement with Paradigm while negotiating with another promotional company — TGP Promotions.

Earlier, Pacquiao defeated DK Yoo of South Korea in their exhibition boxing match on December 11. The eight-division world champion got a unanimous decision victory after six two-minute rounds. Pacquiao stepped up the gas in the second half of the fight when he was able to knock down the Korean three times. He had no issues connecting with his punches despite being shorter and lighter than his Korean opponent.
