According to reports by Manila Bulletin and Bombo Radyo, Roque died on Sunday, April 12, at the age of 88. News of his passing has prompted tributes from those who recognize his lasting contributions to Philippine basketball.
Roque’s decorated career began at Jose Rizal University, where he stood out as a varsity player in 1956. His strong collegiate performance paved the way for a successful run in the MICAA and the Philippine national team.
He went on to play for Ysmael Steel from 1958 to 1963, before suiting up for the YCO Painters from 1964 to 1970. He later concluded his playing career with Mariwasa, where he played from 1971 to 1973.

On the international stage, Roque was a consistent presence for the Philippines in major competitions. He competed in the 1960 Rome Olympics and remained part of the national program as an alternate for the 1968 Mexico Olympics.
