LA Tenorio now cancer-free, confirms basketball comeback

LA Tenorio is now finally cancer-free, and he took to social media to share the inspiring story of his recovery.

In a lengthy post, the Barangay Ginebra point guard recollected his healing journey.

"My journey – from the tests, the surgery, the official diagnosis, to the 12 session of chemotherapy – was an experience I will never forget, it's the kind that marks us and gives us a different perspective in life."

"Just like many other cancer patients, there were bad days but all I can be grateful of is God gave me the power to continue my life as a father, provider, son, brother and friend to everyone around me all throughout the journey."

The PBA star went on and unveiled the good news.

"Sept 19, 2023, as I step out of my doctor's clinic with my wife, and as my nurse pulls out my chemo line plugged into my heart for 6 months, I am writing this message to everyone," he narrated.

"My scan and last test results show no trace of cancer and that the treatment was effective. I am now in remission. Praise God!"

In the same post, LA also announced his forthcoming return to basketball.

"Now I am returning to basketball for my love of the game. This time with a higher purpose. Not as the old LA, but hopefully with the new and better version of myself."

The Philippine Basketball Association is a men's professional basketball league in the Philippines. The league played its first-ever game at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on April 9, 1975.

LA Tenorio created a huge buzz last March 21 after releasing a statement on his health status. The Barangay Ginebra point guard revealed that he was diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer. In his statement, Tenorio apologized to his teammates, some coaches, the PBA, fans, media and friends as he used his minor injury as the reason for his "sudden absence."

LA shared a post about his healing journey. He shared photos of him at the hospital where Zanjoe Marudo could be seen. In the caption, the PBA star thanked Zanjoe and his other friend for accompanying him on his “road to recovery” despite their busy schedules. According to the basketball player, he feels so blessed to have them as his friends.
