Hidilyn Diaz happily announced that she is now engaged to her boyfriend, strength coach Julius Naranjo.
In an Instagram post on Saturday, the Filipina weightlifter posted an endearing photo of her where she could be seen beaming while flaunting her Olympic gold medal and her stunning engagement ring.
Julius popped the question to her during their romantic date at Sheraton Manila Hotel in Resorts World Manila last night.

“It was a magical moment with @imjulius,” Hidilyn wrote in the caption.
“I'm grateful to God that He sent Julius into my life, he make my life easy, alam ng iba kung ano mga sinasakripisyo niya para maabot namin ang pangarap na Ginto sa Olympics together with #TeamHD, nun laro kinilig at masaya ako kasi siya mismo nagsabi God is the center of our relationship, kaya walang duda magYeYES ako dahil swerte ako may isang Julius nagmamahal, nagintindi, at sumoporta sakin.”
She furthermore added, “Thank you sa lahat ng kasabwat ni Julius, magaling po kayo naging meaningful ang gabi dahil sa inyo.”
Hidilyn Francisco Diaz, an Air Force Staff Sergeant and Pinay weightlifter, is the first Filipino to bring home an Olympic gold medal. She also holds an Olympic weightlifting record in the women’s 55kg division, which she achieved during the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics. During the 2007 SEA Games held in Thailand, she won the bronze medal and placed 10th place in the 53-kilogram class. She went on to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics where she became a Silver Medalist in the women’s 53-kg category.
Hidilyn expressed gratitude to the country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines. This, after PAL sponsored the Filipino Olympic athletes' travel to Tokyo, Japan for the Tokyo Olympics 2020. The Olympic gold medalist also thanked the airline for their faith in the national athletes. The Filipina weightlifter penned the thank-you note during her flight from Tokyo to Manila.
Hidilyn also gave a house tour of her newly-turned over home in Tagaytay. It was a two-storey home that sits on a spacious lot where there is ample space or lawn area.
