Robin Padilla, a Filipino senator, has once again spoken up about the issue with regard to his earlier statement about marital consent.

Previously, the politician was lectured by Atty. Lorna Kapunan during a Senate hearing, telling the senator that "no means no" in marriage.

Following this news, Robin, in an article done by Manila Bulletin, was reported to have spoken up about the matter again, clarifying his stand.

According to Robin, he is apologizing and asking for the people's patience regarding his statement.

"Ako po ay humihingi ng paumanhin at ng inyong mabuting pasensya lalo na po sa mga hindi lubos na nakaunawa sa konteksto ng aking punto ukol sa aming diskusyon ni Atty. Lorna Kapunan sa Senado. Ang aking mga katanungan po ay hypothetical base sa sentimiento at realidad ng mga pang-karaniwang Pilipino. Hindi po ito mula sa aking mga personal na gawain, paniniwala o karanasan," he said.

In his statement, Robin said he is simply asking for a discussion and a thorough understanding of the important matter at hand, regarding consent.

"Ang linya po ng aking pagtatanong ay upang magkaroon ng diskusyon at pagbibigay-linaw. Ito po ang realidad sa tunay na estado ng relasyon ng ordinaryong mag-asawang Pilipino. Ang pinang-gagalingan ko po ay upang gabayan ang karamihan ukol sa isyu ng marital rape. Kasama na din po dito ang sinasabing “gray area” sa Family at Civil Code kahit pa man mayroon tayong Separation of Church and State," he said.

In a report done by GMA, Padilla has already apologized in a Facebook post about his statement.

Meanwhile, Padilla and his wife, Mariel, made headlines over their conversation about being 'in heat,' as reported by Inquirer.
