Aiko Melendez took to social media to upload photos of her recent political rally in Brgy. San Bartolome, Quezon City. The actress is running in the 2022 Election for councilor in Quezon City's 5th district.

One of the highlights of her post is a photo of her talent manager Ogie Diaz expressing his support for her onstage. According to Aiko, she got touched by Ogie’s support especially because they support different presidential candidates.
Ogie is a vocal supporter of Leni Robredo while Aiko is allied with Bongbong Marcos. Leni and Bongbong are the frontrunners in the 2022 presidential race, according to recent surveys.

“Nakisaya din sa amin ang aking kumpare @wendellramosofficial at mader @ogie_diaz na kahit magkaiba ang aming sinusuportahan andun pa dn siya upang magpakita ng pagmamahal para sa akin. Aiko Melendez is a well-known showbiz personality. She received the Best Supporting Actress award in 2018 for her role in the film "Rainbow's Sunset." Aiko ran for and won a seat on the Quezon City Council in 2001. She served for 9 years, until 2010.

Aiko referred to the Kapuso actress as a "fighter" in her viral post because of the ordeals she faced. She also praised Katrina for being an incredible mother to Katie. Katrina followed up with an equally heartfelt message for Aiko, whom she expressed her love for and stated she would miss immensely.
Aiko previously shared a meme about Filipinos "unfriending" each other over political disputes. She stated that fighting with her friends and loved ones over politicians is not worth it for her. The veteran actress believes that people with diverse political beliefs should be respected. Ultimately, she prayed to God for the country's healing and for love to prevail among its people.
