Aiko Melendez is a popular showbiz personality in the Philippines. In 2018, she won the Best Supporting Actress award for the movie, “Rainbow’s Sunset.” In 2001, Aiko ran for councilor in the city elections in Quezon City and won. She became Councilor of the 2nd District of Quezon City and remained in office for 9 years until 2010.

Aiko was the councilor of the 2nd District of Quezon City for nine years. According to Aiko, she studied very hard during her time as a counselor and managed to pass laws that helped people. She also emphasized that during the 9 years she served as a councilor, there was no issue about any corruption.
Meanwhile, Aiko was pitied by her good friend, Ogie Diaz, after he revealed that the actress received a death threat for pursuing politics. According to Ogie, the competitors of Aiko in the area seemed to be threatened by the actress's presence. At one point, Ogie said that when it comes to the world of politics, it is expected to always get dirty.
