The incident took place at the family's residence in Barangay Guinpanaan, according to a report by Eileen Pedreso on GMA Regional TV's *Ratsada Balita* on Friday.
Initial police findings indicated that the confrontation began when the young man asked his grandmother for money. An argument reportedly followed after the elderly woman refused to lend him the amount he was requesting.
Police Major Judesses Catalogo, spokesperson of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO), said the disagreement eventually escalated into a violent attack.

The tragic incident has left the elderly couple's household devastated, with both the grandmother and her grandson losing their lives.
In another report, a man lost his life after being shot outside a school in Barangay Prinza, Teresa, Rizal, on Thursday afternoon, prompting authorities to search for the unidentified gunman. Meanwhile, a motorcycle shop owner in Davao City was injured when an armed individual opened fire after the businessman attempted to resist a robbery. According to "Unang Balita," the suspect, who was wearing a helmet, entered the shop and threatened the owner with a firearm. The businessman fought back, prompting the suspect to shoot him in the arm. The assailant eventually escaped when a commotion erupted inside the establishment, leaving the owner wounded.
