Two cooks died after a landslide struck the bulalo eatery where they worked in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet.

According to a report by GMA's Unang Balita, the eatery was located at the foot of a mountain in Barangay Shilan, La Trinidad, Benguet. A landslide caused soil from the slope to collapse and hit the establishment where the victims were working.

The impact left the bulalo eatery heavily damaged and covered with soil and debris. Rescue personnel immediately responded to the area to search for the workers who were inside the establishment when the incident happened.

Unang Balita also reported that one of the two cooks who died was a senior citizen. Both victims were working at the bulalo eatery when the landslide struck the establishment.

Following the incident, the local government of La Trinidad promised to extend assistance to the bereaved families. The report did not specify the type of aid that would be given, but officials assured the families that support would be provided.

The landslide happened while La Trinidad was experiencing bad weather brought by Tropical Cyclone Maymay. Continuous rainfall had affected the municipality and other parts of Benguet around the time of the incident.

For the families of the two cooks, the tragedy meant losing their loved ones while they were at work. The assistance promised by the local government may help them address some of their immediate needs following the incident.

In another report, an unidentified male suspect was arrested for allegedly threatening and intimidating a 45-year-old tenant in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. According to Gabriel Gonzalez’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita, police found the suspect inside a convenience store along Quirino Highway. Video footage showed the authorities approaching the man and ordering him to lie on the floor. He was immediately placed under arrest.

Meanwhile, Marlon Sabandal lost his life after he was shot while trying to stop a street brawl in Barangay Buting, Pasig City, in the early hours of July 12. According to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita, several men were seen arguing along the roadside before the confrontation escalated into a fistfight. Barangay tanods who were on patrol aboard a tricycle happened to pass by and immediately crossed the street to stop the commotion.

Recently, a 75-year-old senior citizen was allegedly deceived by a man who offered to buy her gold ring in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes, Iloilo, on July 31. CCTV footage showed a helmet-wearing man talking to the woman, identified in the report as Lola Susana, at the entrance of her home. According to the report, the man expressed interest in buying her ring and asked to examine it. While pretending to inspect the jewelry, he allegedly switched it with a fake ring before handing one back to her.
