The intense legal drama surrounding Apollo has been making massive headlines for years. Currently, he is facing serious, non-bailable domestic charges under Republic Act No. 9208, and is presently dealing with an active court case in Pasig.

His highly publicized arrest last September 2024 at his massive church compound in Davao City already sent shockwaves across the country.

Now, the heavy international pressure adds a totally different and overwhelming layer to his ongoing legal battles.

Across the globe, the prominent leader is facing a massive legal reckoning. Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles previously filed serious indictments against Apollo and several church administrators, alleging that they aggressively orchestrated a fraudulent scheme to bring church members to the United States using fake visas.

These members were allegedly forced to relentlessly solicit donations for a completely fabricated charity organization.

Despite the confirmation from the embassy, the local justice department clarified that the paperwork is still navigating the official diplomatic channels.

Responding to the massive public interest, the official spokesperson for the Department of Justice carefully explained the current status, noting that they have not officially received the specific extradition documents yet.

“Under the Philippine–U.S. Extradition Treaty and applicable law, the DFA would be the first point of contact for such a request. Initial inquiries may therefore be directed to the DFA,” the spokesperson said.

Apollo Carreon Quiboloy is a prominent Filipino televangelist who founded and leads the Kingdom of Jesus Christ religious movement. Widely recognized for declaring himself the "Appointed Son of God," he built a massive global ministry while establishing a long-standing political alliance with former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.

It can be recalled that about a year ago, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology confirmed that Apollo Quiboloy was urgently rushed to a public hospital on September 11 due to severe breathing difficulties. After thorough examinations, medical professionals officially diagnosed the detained leader with moderate-risk community-acquired pneumonia, requiring immediate intensive care. Authorities quickly notified the Pasig City Regional Trial Court Branch 159, which promptly issued a court order on September 15 formally permitting his extended hospitalization. In a September 30, 2025 update, the BJMP stated that he remains confined but in stable condition, recovering under strict health protocols for detained individuals.

Previously, the religious leader reportedly spends his detention actively engaging in continuous and dedicated Biblical studies. During an interview with ABS-CBN, his legal counsel, Atty. Mark Tolentino, surprisingly described their private jailhouse meetings as deep and immersive Bible study sessions. Instead of heavily focusing on his massive legal battles, the lawyer noted that their intense discussions are almost entirely centered on deep spiritual and theological matters. Atty. Tolentino also revealed that the high-profile detainee is currently battling severe boredom and a heavy sense of isolation after his co-accused were transferred to the Pasig City Jail.
