According to a report by GMA Balitambayan, the victims were identified as a 70-year-old former commissioner of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and her dedicated 52-year-old female caretaker.
The local police immediately launched a special investigation task group to track down the perpetrator who mercilessly ended their lives.
Investigators meticulously combed through weeks of vital surveillance footage to retrace the killer's exact escape route.
The security cameras captured a highly suspicious man casually walking out of the subdivision and hailing a taxi along Regalado Highway.
About an hour later, the same individual was recorded at a clothing store in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
Detailing the suspect's calculated movements, Fairview Police Station commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Albert Jefferson Relente stated, “Pagbili niya ng damit, agad-agad siyang pumunta sa CR at nagbihis. Nagcheck-in siya sa isang motel ng 3 hours at pagkatapos ng 3 hours sumakay ulit siya ng jeep pabalik ng Novaliches.”
The massive breakthrough in the grueling investigation happened later that evening when the suspect foolishly used an electronic payment kiosk inside a Novaliches drugstore to wire exactly P10,000 in stolen funds.
Tracing the digital transaction, authorities made a stunning connection.
“Upon follow-up operation namin, napag-alaman namin na itong number ang nagmamay-ari ay ang pamangkin ng senior citizen na biktima. Pinakita namin itong CCTV footage ng suspek natin dito sa pamangkin ng senior citizen na biktima,” Relente explained.
The grieving niece positively identified the man on the screen as her very own husband, making him the 36-year-old primary suspect.
Authorities revealed that several pieces of valuable jewelry, three mobile phones, and an undisclosed amount of cash were stolen from the victims.
Explaining the dark reason behind the betrayal, Relente noted, “Ang naging motibo nito ay pagnanakaw kasi napag-alaman natin na itong suspek ay naghihirap.”
Currently, the suspect remains at large, desperately hiding from the long arm of the law. However, two counts of murder and robbery have already been formally filed against him.
