The incident later claimed the life of the soldier's wife after she was allegedly stabbed by her father-in-law.
According to a report by SONA, the couple had just arrived home when they reportedly started arguing. A short time later, gunshots were heard from inside their residence.
Responding authorities found the soldier lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Investigators said the firearm involved was the soldier's service firearm. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.

A witness told investigators that the soldier's father saw what had happened to his son. He allegedly took a knife and stabbed his daughter-in-law. The woman later died from her injuries.
The soldier's father subsequently surrendered to authorities and is now in police custody. He declined to give a statement regarding the incident.
Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the couple's argument, as well as the sequence of events that led to the deaths of both the soldier and his wife. Investigators are also gathering additional evidence to determine the exact circumstances of the case.
The incident left the couple's child orphaned.
