A 12-year-old girl died after she was accidentally hit by a bullet during a violent altercation between two men in Malabon City.

According to a report by Unang Balita and journalist Gabriel Gonzalez of GMA News, the incident happened in Barangay Longos, Malabon, on June 13.
Residents were alarmed after hearing several gunshots in the area. CCTV footage showed two men chasing each other before another round of gunfire was heard. Moments later, both men were seen running into an alley.
Police said one of the men, who was wearing a black sleeveless shirt, suffered a gunshot wound to the chest and later died.

Investigators revealed that a misunderstanding between the two men allegedly led to the confrontation.
"Nagkaroon sila ng konting hindi pagkakaintindihan kaya nagresulta sa ganitong pangyayari," a police officer said in the report.
Authorities added that based on their investigation, the suspect claimed that the other man was planning to stab him.
"Sa katunayan, merong hawak na patalim yung biktima," the officer explained.
While the confrontation was taking place, the 12-year-old victim was reportedly playing near the area with her siblings and cousins. She was accidentally struck by a bullet in the back when the suspect fired his weapon.
The child was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
One of her playmates recalled the terrifying moments before the shooting.
"May narinig po kaming barilan. Tumakbo kami tapos akala namin po nagpa-prank lang po siya. Tumawag po kami ng tulong," the child said.
The suspect fled after the incident but was tracked down by authorities through CCTV footage. He was later arrested in the Tondo area of Manila several hours after the shooting.
Police said the suspect is now detained at the Malabon City Police Station and refused to give a statement. He is expected to face two counts of murder.
The victim's family expressed deep grief over her death. Her mother tearfully shared that her daughter had dreams of helping their family in the future.
"Marami pang pangarap ang anak ko. Gusto niya makatulong sa magulang at sa mga kapatid niya. Gusto niya makapagtapos," she said.
Meanwhile, the victim's younger sibling, who witnessed the incident, is still experiencing trauma from what happened.

In other news, a tragic altercation in Bocaue resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was reportedly attacked by her younger half-brother. Law enforcement officials indicated that the conflict was triggered by a disagreement regarding a request for fare money. The victim suffered several fatal injuries during the encounter and was pronounced dead prior to her arrival at the local hospital. Following the incident the 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police and is anticipated to be charged with murder.
