The scare began during mealtime when Janice decided to introduce a new ingredient to her daughter's diet.
"I gave Jana scrambled eggs and it was her first time trying egg whites. After just a few spoonfuls, she became unusually irritated and started rubbing her eyes and neck," she noticed.
Sensing that something was wrong, Janice immediately stopped the feeding and kept a very close eye on her little girl. Within moments, the symptoms began to escalate. She noticed hives breaking out on Jana's skin.
Thanks to her quick decision-making, they arrived at the hospital without delay. Medical staff immediately gave Jana antihistamines and monitored her condition closely for several hours before officially diagnosing her with an allergic reaction to egg whites. Fortunately, the quick trip to the emergency room kept the situation under control. Janice shared a sweet photo of a much calmer Jana resting safely after the tough ordeal.
"She’s doing much better now and is back to her happy self," Janice wrote with relief. "The doctor prescribed antihistamines and an EpiPen for emergencies, and we were told to call 911 immediately if a future reaction becomes severe," she added in her awareness post.
Closing her post, the athlete emphasized that she wanted to share her story not to create panic, but to remind fellow parents to always remain vigilant and trust their gut feeling when it comes to their children's health.
