According to the report, a client brought 25 silver coins, two rings, and one earring to a pawnshop along Kamias Road in Quezon City. The items were reportedly appraised for P34,000.

However, when the client received the list of pawned items and the money, the customer allegedly noticed that some of the items were missing from the record.

The client then reportedly approached other employees of the pawnshop to ask about the missing items.

“So in-approach niya ngayon yung ibang staff nung pawnshop at doon po niya nalaman na bakit yun lang naman ang nakasulat,” authorities added.

The pawnshop later sought police assistance, which led to the suspect’s arrest. Authorities also reportedly recovered the missing jewelry and silver coins from him.

During the investigation, police allegedly uncovered another scheme that the suspect had supposedly been doing while working at the pawnshop for nearly a year.

Investigators claimed that he allegedly inflated the appraisal values he reported to his employer in order to request a larger amount of money.

“Parang dinadagdagan niya yung value na sinasabi doon sa boss. Kaya ang binibigay sa kanya na pera is kung ano yung sasabihin niya,” police explained.

Authorities added that the amount he allegedly told clients was different from the amount he requested from the company.
