According to a report by Balitanghali, the incident started on April 29 when the reseller began communicating with a woman who claimed to be living in the United States.

The following day, the two reportedly agreed on the sale of more than 100 grams of gold jewelry valued at nearly P900,000.

Before shipping the items through a courier service, the reseller said he first waited for proof that the payment had been deposited. The buyer allegedly sent a receipt and a check as confirmation.

Believing the payment had already been processed, the reseller proceeded with the shipment.

However, the victim later discovered that the money never entered the supplier’s account. The check also reportedly bounced.

“Hindi po pumasok ang pera sa account ng supplier niya at tumalbog ang cheque,” the report stated.

After receiving the jewelry, the buyer allegedly stopped responding to messages and could no longer be contacted.

The reseller later found out that the same person may have been involved in an earlier transaction on April 27. According to the victim, the suspected scammer was also allegedly working as a jewelry reseller.

The woman had reportedly purchased more than P300,000 worth of jewelry from him before the larger transaction took place.

Because of the incident, the reseller and the supplier filed a complaint with the National Bureau of Investigation to identify and locate the person behind the alleged scam.

The report also reminded the public to be extra careful when dealing with online or personal transactions, especially when expensive items and large amounts of money are involved.
