A devastating house fire in Urdaneta City, Pangasinan claimed the lives of six members of the same family early Monday morning, leaving the community in mourning and authorities continuing their investigation into the cause of the blaze.

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. in Barangay Nancayasan, according to reports. Fire officials said initial findings suggest the blaze may have started in the kitchen before rapidly spreading throughout the house.
“’Yun nga hindi agad sila nakapag-evacuate… may reported tayo na anim na namatay doon, na magkakamag-anak,” says Senior Fire Officer 3 Nathaniel Aquino, deputy marshal of the Urdaneta City Fire Station.
Among the fatalities were two 11-year-old girls, highlighting the tragic impact of the fire on the young members of the family.

The fast-moving flames reportedly left the victims with little to no chance of escape.
Grieving relatives described the difficulty of coping with the sudden loss of their loved ones.
“Sobrang sakit sir, hindi namin po alam kung paano kami magsisimula ulit. Lima po sila sa pamilya ko. Hindi ko alam paano kami magsisimula ulit. Masakit, sobrang sakit,” says Riza Sarceda, a relative of the victims.
Another family member also recounted the condition in which the victims were found after the fire.
“Sobrang sakit sir kasi yung pagkapatay niya sobrang sakit sir. Hindi mo na makilala mukha niya at katawan. Sunog na sunog,” says Arnel Dela Peña.
Authorities estimated that the fire caused around ₱3 million in property damage.
Fire investigators are still working to determine the exact origin of the blaze, while reminding residents to observe fire safety measures, especially during nighttime hours when response times may be critical.
In Valenzuela City, authorities are investigating a theft caught on CCTV where a male suspect was seen discreetly taking a mobile phone from a local business. Aside from the stolen ₱6,000 smartphone, the victim later discovered that ₱9,000 had been unlawfully withdrawn from their digital wallet. Police said the suspect fled the scene on a bicycle and was last tracked heading toward Bulacan. Law enforcement officials, together with community leaders, have since increased monitoring in the area while working to identify the individual captured in the footage.
