Initial reports stated that the bus struck five motorcycles, three multi-purpose vehicles, and a van that were stopped at the intersection.

CCTV footage showed pedestrians crossing moments before the speeding bus barreled through the area and hit the stationary vehicles.

Another camera angle captured the bus first colliding with the center island and then crashing into a post of the LRT-1 before slamming into traffic ahead.

A vendor in the area, identified as Chax Testa, said the bus was already moving fast before the crash.

“Mabilis yung takbo ng bus tapos bumangga pa nga siya dun sa isang yung poste ng LRT eh tapos nakita ko na lang yun na inararo na niya yung ibang mga kotse pati yung mga motor… huling binangga niya yung kotse na patawid na dito…. Marami talaga siyang nabangga,” he said.

One of the injured motorists, 32-year-old Elie Sungahid, sustained a bump on the head after his white car was hit from behind while stopped at a red light. His passenger suffered arm abrasions.

“Bigla na may sumalpok dun sa likod ko,” Sungahid said.

Responders from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Barangay 669 immediately assisted the victims. Barangay kagawad Ariel Completo confirmed that despite the scale of the crash, no one was killed.

“Luckily medyo gabi na kaya kokonti na mga tao,” he said.
