In a report by Kuya Kim on "GMA News’ 24 Oras" last Friday, homeowner Renz Santos shared how the discovery unfolded. The family first noticed that the Christmas star appeared to be crooked.

“Napansin namin na ‘yung Christmas star sa Christmas tree is nakahapay. Nung aayusin na namin, dun na namin napansin na may something dun sa ibabaw nung star, which is a snake pala. ‘Yung Christmas tree is kakulay niya. Maganda ‘yung pattern nung balat niya and shiny siya,” he recalled.

Renz then posted a photo of the snake to a Facebook group dedicated to snakes in the Philippines, where members helped identify it as a paradise flying tree snake that had somehow ended up on their Christmas tree.

“Isa sa natutunan ko dun sa group is treat every snake na venomous until ma-ID mo siya. So hindi ko siya hinandle. Gumamit ako ng mahabang stick,” he explained, emphasizing that he kept a safe distance while attempting to remove the snake.

The encounter left the family both amazed and cautious, highlighting the unexpected ways wildlife can appear even during the holiday season.

Authorities or wildlife experts often advise treating unknown snakes as potentially venomous and using proper tools when relocating them to avoid harm.

This unusual incident has since captured the attention of local netizens, drawing both curiosity and a reminder of the importance of caution when encountering wildlife near homes.

In a previous report by KAMI, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) was reported to be looking into around 40 luxury vehicles allegedly associated with the family of Sarah Discaya. The review followed a viral interview in which Discaya displayed their collection of high-end cars, prompting authorities to take action. Officials are now examining importation records, including the listed consignees, to check for possible violations. Discaya has also been linked to contractors connected to flood control projects that are currently under scrutiny by the Senate. In a separate development, reports recently confirmed the death of former Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary Catalina Cabral.
