The suddenness of the attack left the group in shock as they sought help from nearby residents.

The victim’s remains were later recovered by authorities.

His family immediately proceeded with the burial in accordance with Islamic customs.

Officials noted that the decision to lay him to rest right away followed long-standing religious tradition in their community.

The incident has prompted renewed concern among residents of Balabac and nearby towns, particularly due to recent crocodile encounters in the area.

Just last week, locals from Bataraza caught a 14-foot crocodile.

Authorities said it was "hinihinalang umatake sa may 15 aso" in their community, raising fears of more aggressive behavior from wildlife in the region.

Law enforcement and wildlife officials are continuing their investigation to determine whether the same crocodile responsible for previous animal attacks may also be linked to the fatal incident.

Local authorities are urging coastal communities to stay alert and avoid areas where crocodiles have recently been spotted.

Security guard who searched for his missing cow, found dead with stab wounds

In Davao City, a 74-year-old man was killed by his own grandson, a shocking incident that left their community in disbelief. Relatives shared that the 27-year-old suspect had shown threatening behavior in the past and had been admitted to a mental health facility several times. The family has chosen not to file criminal charges, instead opting to have him placed under psychiatric care. Neighbors, still reeling from the tragedy, describe the loss as both sudden and deeply heartbreaking.

A separate case has also drawn public attention after an 18-year-old student died following the circulation of unauthorized CCTV footage. The clip, which allegedly showed her taking ice cream without paying, spread among local youths and caused the young woman immense shame, fear, and emotional distress, according to her family. Authorities have since filed complaints against the store owner and a study room supervisor for potential violations of privacy laws. Both incidents have sparked nationwide conversations about the dangers of digital harm and the responsibility that comes with sharing sensitive content—especially when minors are involved. Experts caution that actions taken online can lead to devastating consequences offline. Advocates are likewise calling for improved mental health support and wider public awareness to help prevent similar tragedies from happening again.
