On June 11, just a day after the accident, the Office of the Building Official (OBO) in Cebu issued a suspension order on the operations of the project to allow for a full investigation and ensure that safety standards are being enforced.

Authorities are currently conducting an in-depth investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident and to assess whether there was negligence or a breach of safety protocols on site.

As the probe continues, labor and safety advocates are calling for stricter enforcement of workplace safety measures, especially in high-risk environments such as high-rise construction sites.

Jolito’s death adds to the growing list of work-related fatalities in the Philippines, prompting renewed calls for improved oversight and accountability in the construction industry.

The name of the construction company involved has yet to be disclosed pending the outcome of the official investigation.
