Seven people were injured after a jeepney figured in an accident in Purok Señora, Barangay Salvacion, in the town of Murcia, Negros Occidental, around 7:00 AM on Saturday, June 8.

According to the Murcia Police Station, the jeepney was operating on the Handumanan-Libertad route and was carrying a family from Bacolod City.
The group was reportedly on their way to Central Philippine Adventist College to attend a graduation ceremony.
Tragically, one of the injured passengers was a student who was set to graduate that very day.

Initial police investigation revealed that the accident was caused by a mechanical failure.
The jeepney’s front right tire suddenly came off, causing the vehicle to lose balance and plunge into a nearby ditch.
Fortunately, all passengers only sustained minor injuries. They were promptly given medical assistance following the accident.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine whether the jeepney was properly maintained and if the operator may be held liable for the mechanical failure.
Residents in the area assisted in helping the victims out of the vehicle before responders arrived at the scene.
Traffic flow in the area was temporarily affected but was cleared shortly after.
Local officials and police are reminding public transport operators to conduct regular maintenance checks to ensure the safety of passengers, especially during family gatherings and special occasions such as graduations.

According to the report of EJ Gomez in 'Unang Balita,' the 38-year-old suspect committed the crime inside the school's faculty room. Police authorities said the school has a security guard, but, being a familiar face in the school, the suspect managed to easily get in and out of the school. The suspect said he was there to talk to his wife and settle their misunderstanding, but unfortunately, it led to a big arguement.
