In the Philippines, drivers who feel sleepy are advised to take precautions to prevent accidents.

They should pull over in a safe area and take a short nap or rest before continuing their journey. Drinking coffee or other caffeinated beverages may help, but it is only a temporary solution.

If possible, they should have a companion who can take over driving or keep them engaged in conversation to stay alert.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and other agencies also recommend avoiding long drives without breaks and getting enough sleep before traveling.

Defensive driving courses emphasize that drowsy driving is as dangerous as drunk driving and should be taken seriously.
