A senior citizen is in critical condition after being stabbed by a neighbor over a videoke fight in Rodriguez, Rizal on Tuesday night.

Investigation by the Philippine National Police revealed that the two had a prior feud. Both neighbors were reportedly drunk when the incident occurred.

"Ayon doon sa witness natin, matagal ng magkaaway ang magkapitbahay na ito. Itong pangyayari namang ito, parehong nag-iinuman, may videoke sa kabila at may videoke rin sa kabila,” said Rodriguez police chief PLtCol. Paul Sabulao.
“Sa side ng suspek, kinainggitan siya dahil nakabili rin sila ng videoke. Ito 'yung pinag-ugatan ng away, kesyo malakas ang sounds doon sa kabila, at malakas din dito, ito 'yung sinasabi ng witness," he added.

Four knives were recovered from the suspect and the victim.

The police also learned that the suspect had just been released from prison.

"Nalaman natin na itong suspek natin ay galing na sa kulungan for 25 years dahil sa kasong murder at frustrated murder at kakalaya lang niya noong 2010. Ayaw nga niya gumawa, dahil alam na niya paano mangulungan, pero nagawa niya dahil lagi na lang siya pinaparinggan," Sabulao said.

The suspect's defense is that he was not the one who rushed in and stabbed first.

"Siya po 'yung sumugod sa bahay ko. Tsaka marami po ang nakakita siya ang unang sumaksak sa akin nakadepensa lang po ako," the suspect said.
