Dating teacher na umano'y nakarelasyon at pinagsamantalahan ang 14-anyos niyang estudyante, arestado

- A former teacher was arrested in Iloilo for allegedly taking advantage of his student before

- The 35-year-old alleged suspect hid in Iloilo and worked in a call center company

- The victim was a 14-year-old student of the former Science teacher who was wanted by Pasig police for Statutory rape that he committed in Pasig and Antipolo last year

- According to the police investigations and as reported in '24 Oras' of GMA 7, the alleged suspect got into a romantic relationship with one of his students

The 14-year-old victim had been allegedly taken advantage by the suspect several times.

According to PCOL. Hendrix Mangaldan, the complainant was the victim's aunt, the one being considered as the guardian of the minor.

They filed the case and eventually, the arrest warrant was released against the perpetrator.

However, in an interview with Emil Sumangil of GMA 7, the suspect said he and the victim's feelings were true and they wanted whatever happened between them.

"Minsan sir kahit anong talino mo, 'pag pag-ibig, wala eh," said the alleged suspect.

Whether the former teacher's story was true or not, since the victim was a minor, he will still be charged with statutory rape.

In Philippine law, statutory rape is when an adult engages in sexual activity with a minor below 16 years old, regardless of consent. Under Republic Act No. 11648, which amended the Anti-Rape Law, the age of sexual consent in the Philippines was raised from 12 to 16 years old. This means that any sexual act with a child under 16 is automatically considered rape, even if the child supposedly agreed.

The only exception is if both individuals are in a consensual, non-abusive relationship, and the age difference is not more than three years, but this does not apply if the younger person is below 13 years old.
