John Jay and Royce's journey to the altar was far from smooth. They started their life together in 2005 when Royce was just 15 years old, welcoming their first child the following year. However, their relationship faced a major challenge when John Jay went to work in Japan for three years. During his time abroad, he had an affair, creating a deep rift in their bond.
Despite their efforts to rebuild their family, the spark they once shared had faded.

Upon his return from Japan in 2013, John Jay proposed to Royce, but she rejected him. The pain of his infidelity was still too fresh.
Their situation grew even more complicated when John Jay was incarcerated in 2020 for violating drug and firearms laws. Ironically, it was during his imprisonment that their love rekindled.
Royce began visiting John Jay in jail three to four times a week, and the spark in their relationship reignited. In a surprising turn of events, it was Royce who proposed to John Jay in 2022. With the help of the jail guards, she orchestrated a heartwarming proposal, holding up letters that spelled out "will you marry me" while John Jay watched from his cell.
And so, on Valentine's Day 2025, John Jay and Royce finally exchanged vows in a ceremony held inside the Balamban Municipal Jail. John Jay, looking dapper in his tuxedo, waited at the altar for Royce, who was radiant in her white wedding gown, carrying a bouquet of white, red, and yellow flowers. Their two sons and parents joined them in the wedding march.
John Jay's message to his wife was one of hope and commitment.
“Sana maging strong tayo hanggang sa huli. Hanggang kamatayan na 'to.
He also expressed his gratitude to the church ministry and the Balamban Municipal Jail for making their wedding possible.
God is good all the time. Ganitong opportunity binigay sa amin. Sana going straight na tayo yung mga pagkakamali natin sa isa't isa gawin nating stepping stone para maging better na tao tayo,” he also said.
Royce's message to her husband was filled with love and longing.
Sana malapit na tayong magsama,” she told her husband.
Jail Officer 1 Neftali Pino shared that the jail officers served as sponsors for the wedding. Due to the limited space, only immediate family members were able to attend the ceremony. He thanked the Family Life Ministry of Balamban for their support and contributions to the event.
John Jay and Royce's wedding is a poignant reminder that love can blossom even in the most unlikely of places. Their story is a testament to the power of forgiveness, the strength of family, and the enduring nature of true love.
