A lifeless fetus was found buried in a vacant lot in Polomolok, South Cotabato.
According to the Social Welfare and Development Office of Barangay Canary Site, the fetus was estimated to be around seven to eight months old.
In a report by Efren Mamac of GMA Regional TV, which aired on GMA 7's *Balitanghali*, it was revealed that local residents were the ones who discovered the buried fetus.
Their suspicion was first triggered when they noticed a lit candle in the area, prompting them to investigate further.

Within the area, police authorities also recovered a bowl, pieces of diapers, and tissue.
The remains of the fetus were already buried in a public cemetery in Barngay Matin-ao.
Meanwhile, police authorities are still investigating the culprit who buried the poor baby in the vacant lot.
In the Philippines, secretly burying a fetus could be considered a criminal offense, depending on the circumstances.
If the fetus was a result of an unlawful abortion, those involved could be charged under Article 258 or 259 of the Revised Penal Code, which penalizes abortion-related crimes.
If the fetus died under suspicious circumstances, concealing its burial might lead to charges such as concealment of birth (Article 347) or even obstruction of justice if done to hide evidence of a crime.
Additionally, improper disposal of human remains may violate health and sanitation laws. The exact legal consequences depend on the intent, cause of death, and other factors surrounding the burial.
