A family is in deep grief after their 59-year-old father was killed when the motorcycle he was riding collided with a pickup truck in Pasay City while he was going to work.

In a report by Darlene Cay on GMA News 24 Oras on Thursday, it was said that the incident occurred at the intersection of Bayshore Avenue and Diokno Boulevard in Pasay City on Sunday morning.

“Yung nabanga yung tatay ko, tinatawagan siya ng pinsan ko. Tapos enforcer po pala ‘yun, sabi nadisgrasya yung tatay ko. Tinawagan din ako ng pinsan ko, kaya pumunta po ako doon agad. Na-shock po ako, hindi ko alam yung gagawin ko,” according to the victim’s son.

The victim was declared dead on arrival when he was taken to the hospital.

The family was preparing for the victim’s 60th birthday celebration in May.

“Malambing siya, mabait siya sa akin pati sa ibang kapatid ko,” according to the son.

Police investigation revealed that both the victim and the pickup were on the right side of the intersection when the incident occurred.

“At that time na mag go-go, naka-move ng 3 to 5 meters yung Hilux, naramdaman niya, umangat yung kaliwang gulong niya sa front, ayun na 'yon, nangyari na yung bungguan nila,” said Police Captain Alvin Bagay, Pasay Vehicular Traffic Investigation head.

The pickup driver allegedly explained that he did not notice the victim. However, a medical examination of the driver allegedly revealed that he had been drinking when the incident occurred.

“Base sa record namin, dahil pina-medical namin, may content ng alak yung tao. According dun sa mga kasama nila, kumain daw sila sa restaurant. Yung girlfriend niya sabi niya na nakainom din siya ng kaunti,” according to Bagay.
“Nakakagalit kasi bakit nagda- drive ng lasing? Definitely, magpu-pursue kami ng case kasi namatay tatay ko. So dapat lang na may hustisya yung tatay ko,” insisted the victim's son.

In other news, a tricycle driver ends up in jail after attempting to bump a policeman at a Comelec checkpoint. The incident happened in San Marcelino, Zambales, where police authorities were conducting a routine Comelec checkpoint. According to Police Regional Office III Regional Director Police Brigadier General Jean Fajardo, the tricycle driver acted suspiciously upon approaching said checkpoint. This prompted several police personnel to pursue the tricycle but instead of complying, it maneuvered recklessly, injuring a policeman in the process.

Still in other news, a family of three almost met a tragic end when the motorcycle they’re riding in fell down when a dog crossed its path. GMA Regional News shared a CCTV footage from an establishment nearby captured the incident. In the footage, one can see the motorcycle carrying the rider, a woman and a child traversing the designated motorcycle lane. All of a sudden, a dog crossed their path, sending all three of them tumbling down with one narrowly missed by the tires of a passing SUV.
