The 32-year-old man was apprehended inside his vehicle near a convenience store along Aurora Boulevard in Cubao on Thursday evening. Authorities served him with an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 195 in Parañaque in connection with a complaint filed by the victim’s housemaid in 2025.
Lieutenant Colonel Arwyn Gaffud, chief of the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station, explained the connection between the earlier case and the woman’s death.
“Lumalabas po sa imbestigasyon natin na 'yung kaso po nitong serious illegal detention, ito po 'yung, ang nag-file po ng kaso nito is 'yung kasambahay po ng biktima na natagpuang patay dito sa ating area of responsibility,” Gaffud said.

The man is also considered a person of interest in the killing of the woman, whose body was discovered inside a refrigerator in her apartment on September 16. Following his arrest, police brought him and his vehicle to the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station, where investigators conducted an inventory of the items inside the car.
According to Gaffud, the man denied being in the area when the incident happened.
“Well, ang sabi niya lang sa akin, wala daw po siya doon sa mga oras na noon, wala daw po siya doon sa area noong nangyari 'yung insidente,” the police chief said.
The case came to light after the apartment’s landlord contacted authorities over a foul smell coming from the unit. The victim was found wrapped in a blanket and placed inside a refrigerator. The landlord reportedly last spoke with her on September 9, when she was accompanied by the man she introduced as her live-in partner.
Police investigators determined that the woman had been strangled, and a rope believed to have been used in the killing was also recovered.
Authorities are waiting for the DNA examination results before proceeding with the next legal steps.
“Hihintayin po natin 'yung resulta ng DNA exam. After that, then we will submit 'yung case folder na yun, 'yung complaint na ihahain natin sa provincial prosecutor ng Rizal for sa kasong murder,” Gaffud said.
