Viy explained that one of their simplest ways to cut costs is to avoid using air conditioning at certain times.

“Ang pinaka-way ng pagtitipid talaga namin is may mga araw or may mga time kami na hindi kami mag-i-aircon,” Viy said.

Cong also stressed the importance of managing their expenses, noting that electricity costs can significantly affect their monthly budget.

“Napakaimportante sa amin na makahanap ng way [kung] paano makakatipid. Kasi kung hindi, buwan-buwan [ay] talo kami. Sa kuryente pa lang, mahal na,” he added.

Their efforts to conserve energy began when they planned their home. According to Viy, the design allows air to circulate naturally, reducing their need for air conditioning. She also shared that the family switches off the lights when it is time to sleep.

Cong explained that they incorporated glass features into their living room to let sunlight illuminate the space during the day. Curtains help manage the heat when temperatures rise, allowing them to make practical use of natural lighting without relying heavily on electrical fixtures.

The couple also considers the number of people living on their property when planning their household expenses. They have two neighboring houses, one for their family and another for their staff, making energy management particularly important.
