President Bongbong Marcos, in an ambush interview by members of the press, called the claims made by former president Rodrigo Duterte as lies.
During the chance interview, the president was asked for his reaction about claims made by FPRRD regarding the 2025 General Appropriations Act or GAA (national budget) having blanks where amounts could allegedly be written later.
PBBM immediately said that FPRRD is lying, adding that being a former president, Duterte knows he cannot pass a GAA with blanks.
“Reactions ninyo Sir regarding sa allegation po ni former president Duterte regarding sa blank items,” a member of the media was heard asking PBBM.

“He's lying. He's a president. He knows that you cannot pass a GAA with a blank. He's lying,” PBBM immediately answered.
“And he's lying because he knows perfectly well that doesn't ever happen. Sa kasaysayan ng buong Pilipinas, hindi pinapayagan na magkaroon ng item ang GAA ng hindi nakalagay kung ano yung project at saka ano yung gastos, ano yung pondo. So it's a lie,” President Marcos added.
He also dared those who claim about blanks in the GAA to show the alleged blanks and they will see that what he’s saying about FPRRD lying is true.
“I was watching the news earlier today and people were saying: 'It's four thousand pages, papano namin i-bubusisiin yan. Titingnan namin isa-isa?' Hindi na lang. Meron namang kopya, that's available in the website of DBM, tingnan ninyo. Wag na ninyong busisiin isa-isa, hanapin nyo yung sinasabi nila na blank check. Tingnan ninyo kung meron kahit isa. Para mapatunayan na tama ang sinasabi ko na kasinungalingan yan. That's my reaction,” President Bongbong Marcos said.

Earlier, Malacañang Palace, through an official statement issued by Secretary Lucas Bersamin, denounced the “fake news” being peddled by some quarters including former president Rodrigo Duterte. The Executive Secretary, in the statement called said “fake news” as “outrightly malicious and should be condemned as criminal.” He then said that the 2025 National Budget was thoroughly examined page by page before President Ferdinand Marcos signed it into law. ES Bersamin also said that “the former president and his cohorts should know better” that the national budget papers “could not contain blank items.”
In other news, former Quezon City mayor Herbert Bautista and his former city administrator Aldrin Cuña were found guilty by the Sandiganbayan. Both were sentenced to a jail time of six to 10 years for graft. They were also perpetually disqualified to hold public office as a result of their conviction. The case stemmed over graft charges concerning a 2019 procurement of an Online Occupational Permitting Tracking System.
