Motorcycle rider dies after getting rolled over by a 10-wheeler truck

A motorcycle rider died after being run over by a 10-wheeler truck in Tondo, Manila, on Saturday night around 9:30 PM.

The accident happened on Mel Lopez Boulevard when the rider tried to avoid a tricycle that was driving in the wrong lane (counterflow).

CCTV footage showed the rider suddenly losing control and falling off his motorcycle right in front of the truck.

Another angle captured the moment the motorcycle hit the tricycle. According to barangay officials, this sudden move was likely the cause of the crash.

They also mentioned the road was slippery because of sand that had fallen from passing trucks, making it harder for vehicles to stop safely.

In a report by GMA News 'Balitambayan,' the rider suffered severe injuries, including a broken leg and a badly damaged helmet. Rescue teams arrived quickly and performed CPR before rushing him to the hospital, but unfortunately, the rider passed away.

The truck driver, in shock, was taken to the barangay. He shared that they were coming from the pier and heading to Valenzuela to deliver wood when the accident occurred.

"Naka-u-turn na kami. Noong malapit na doon sa ano, may maingay. Lakas ng takbo niya motor. Akala ko ano lang 'yun. Tapos may biglang tumunog. Sabi nila nag-alangan daw 'yung ano, nadulas daw 'yung motor," said the driver.

He added, "Sana po eh hindi man ako madamay sa ano kasi di ko naman talaga akalain na makakadisgrasya ng gano'n, boss, eh. 'Di ko alam. Nasa diretso po ako eh."

Authorities are still searching for the tricycle driver who fled the scene after the crash.
