Mike Enriquez, one of GMA-7's veteran broadcasters, passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday, August 29, 2023.

On the day of his passing, his fellow newscasters and workers in GMA News, all posted black photos on their respective social media pages.

Among those who paid respects to his death was Arnold Clavio, who posted a black photo with a candle on his Instagram page, @akosiigan.

Lyn Ching, a fellow GMA News co-worker, took to her social media pages to write the words, "Booma, you will be missed."

Mike, known by his inner circle as "Booma," has popularized a lot of catchy phrases throughout his career, including the words; "Excuse me po!" and "Hindi kita tatantanan!"

Following the news about Mike's sudden passing, he is survived by his wife, Lizabeth 'Baby' Yumping.

Mike Enriquez, or Miguel Castro Enriquez in real life, was an award-winning journalist who served as one of the anchors of “24 Oras.” He was the president of GMA Network’s regional and radio subsidiary, RGMA Network Inc., and was also the Station Manager of Super Radyo DZBB 594 AM.

As previously reported by KAMI, Julius Manahan, also one of the well-known journalists of the country, took to Facebook and gave a farewell message to Enriquez, calling him his mentor. "My mentor, salamat Mike Enriquez R.I.P.," Julius penned.

Meanwhile, in December 2021, Enriquez took a medical leave of absence, GMA Network announced in a statement. It noted that Enriquez “will undergo a medical procedure that will require hospital confinement” and “a minimum of three months isolation period as advised by his doctor.”
