The actress shared details about her experience during her appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Wednesday, October 21. Her revelation comes ahead of the upcoming GMA Films movie Red Crown, which features Ashley and fellow Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez in roles that involve competing in a beauty pageant.
Although Ashley managed to win a crown during her first competition, she explained that the experience was also her last time joining a beauty pageant. At the time, becoming a beauty queen was something her parents had hoped she would pursue.
“I joined a pageant when I was 15. 'Yun 'yung first and last ko na. Though nanalo ako ng crown doon, pero I was 15 lang,” Ashley shared.

“Nu'ng kinontinue ko na kasi 'yung showbiz career ko, parang I decided na feeling ko 'yung heart ko talaga is being an actress. Parang hindi ko na ilalaban 'yung beauty queen kasi parang hindi naman sa hindi ko kaya, feeling ko mas gusto ko mag-focus as an actress.”
